As we return to Autumn rhythms our Companions and Coworkers are eager to resume workshops that don’t run over the Summer months. Our Day Program workshops produce the unique, hand crafted products that we sell to the Cowichan Community and beyond.
Our garden is having a bountiful year, producing bumper crops of vegetables; which we enjoy and sell to the broader Cowichan community. Our produce sales to help offset the costs of running our day programs, produce can be purchased at the Duncan Farmers Market, through our on-farm CSA program, the Cowichan Food Cooperative, The Community Farm Store and other local retailers. In addition to selling our produce, Glenora Farm regularly donates to Nourish Cowichan and the Duncan Food Basket Society, two organizations that are doing excellent work in reducing food insecurity and providing healthy meals within our community. Our gardening day program provides our Companions a variety of opportunities to be outside in the fresh air while taking pride in growing fresh produce and learning new skills.
The herb garden has also been bustling! We grow annual and perennial plants, trees, berries and shrubs to create teas, tinctures, ointments, oils and salves. Our herb salt and garlic powder are famous throughout the region and we have a hard time keeping the shelves at the Glenora Store and Cafe stocked with these delicious and therapeutic treats.
Our Weavery Workshop is embarking on a very BIG project, it is top secret now, but will be announced at a later date so stay posted. We are reorganizing the work space to support physical distancing requirements, but very soon our looms and shuttles will be in action again and our little Weavery will be humming with joy. We can feel the onset of Autumn; shorter days, crisp mornings and an abundance of colourful leaves, with the weather turning towards Winter the Weavers are ready to help you cuddle under cozy lap blankets and hug our handwoven pillows close. Our woven firewood carriers will give you an extra hand when you go outside to collect wood. The Weavers really do have all bases covered, right down to fashion and function, our handwoven scarves are stylish and eye catching. Our tea towels and dishcloths are a pleasure to use with quality that passes the test of time. The Weavery produces products that are unique, playful, durable and a reflection of the folks who create them – truly amazing.
The Candle workshop is also preparing for another season of dipping, all of our candles are 100% beeswax and dipped by hand. Available in natural, red and rainbow in a variety of lengths, these long burning candles are currently available to purchase online through our website www.glenorafarm.org.
